Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)
There are other benchmarking schemes, including one offered by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). This is aimed at industry more generally and is intentionally more detailed and less tailored than the Best Practice Forum's Business Health Check. However, businesses with a broad range of financial and other business information readily available from their systems will find that the DTI scheme enables them to measure up against a wide range of businesses in other industries.

Excellence Through People (ETP)
ETP recognises employers who have measures in place to attract, employ and train staff which meet the minimum legal requirements and match best practice. It is based on 3 Codes:
Code of Good Recruitment Practice:
This sets down the key elements in an employer’s relationship with job applicants, including such commitments as the promise to respond to everyone seeking employment, and the provision of a full job description at the time of the interview.
Code of Good Employment Practice:
This is organised in five sections: Recruit and Select with Care, Offer a competitive Employment Practice, Developing Skills and Performance, Communicate Effectively and Recognise and Reward.
Code of Best Employment Practice:
This has five criteria Education Business Partnerships, Widening Access to Employment Opportunities, Providing Opportunities to Gain Qualifications, Taking on a Training Apprentice and Making a Formal Public Commitment to Achieve Recognition as an Investor in People.
ETP accreditation also provides a very good basis to then progress to Investors in People (IiP), helping you to put in practice actions that are essential for IiP.
