In 2002, the Best Practice Forum commissioned the Centre for Hospitality Industry Performance Research at the University Surrey to undertake a research project into best practice in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industry. The aim was to identify the key elements of best practice through desk and field research.

	Its initial findings appear in the booklet Raising Your Game, which identified 7 critical factors in best practice. Separate publications, which explain the research in greater detail, will be published in the next year.
