BACKGROUND
The Best Practice Forum was launched in September 2001 by former Tourism Minister Dr Kim Howells to improve the competitiveness of the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industry. It is a direct response to the government's Competitiveness White Paper and seeks to improve quality, productivity and business performance, particularly amongst small businesses which make up 85% of the 300,000 establishments in the industry. |
As the principal trade association for the hospitality industry, the British Hospitality Association (BHA) has created the Forum and is leading its work in a strategic alliance with other key industry associations and partners so that benefits of this work can be felt across all industry sectors. Through part funding by the Department of Trade and Industry the first five years of the Forum's work is budgeted at some 5.9million. |
